Politics and Popcorn: Watch Debate at Patch's Viewing Party

Be part of a discussion surrounding the first debate between President Barack Obama and GOP challenger Mitt Romney. This is a free event, but space is limited.

You don't want to watch Wednesday night's presidential debate alone, do you?

Then join Patch readers of both parties Wednesday night at a special debate viewing party at the Rosebud Cinema in Wauwatosa.

Whether you support President Barack Obama or challenger Mitt Romney, you're invited to this free party to watch the debate on the theater's big screen and then share your views on how the candidates addressed the issues you care about.

A limited number of spaces are available public for the event. You can RSVP by using the form on this page or emailing matthew.schroeder@patch.com to hold a spot.

We're seeking Democrats and Republicans, undecided voters, small business owners, civic-minded citizens and those interested in the political process to participate in a civil but spirited discussion afterward.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. with networking and trivia, and the Rosebud's kitchen will be open. Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are scheduled to debate between 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., and afterward Patch editors will talk with groups of attendees regarding their impression of the debate. The theater is located at 6823 W. North Ave. in Wauwatosa.

We'll also have Patch goodies for everyone — and there will be a drawing for a door prize when the party wraps up.

Normally, I would love to attend this event. But I am attending the Debate Watching Party at the GOP Victory Center at 1701 Pearl St. and Hwy 164 on Waukesha's eastside. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Watch ALL the debates on the "REALLY Big Screen".
James R Hoffa October 02, 2012 at 06:26 PM
Unfortunately, Hoffa is currently occupied with family matters that need his attention, otherwise Hoffa would have definitely been there!
James R Hoffa October 02, 2012 at 06:27 PM
Anyone else watching the debate tonight on Dish network between Glenn Beck and Eliot Spitzer?

Is segway boy coming?

This is a nice idea. Unfortunately, I have other plans for Wednesday night. Besides, I don't think that I could stand to listen to Keith Schmitz spewing his hate throughout the evening...
Steve Ebbie October 02, 2012 at 08:17 PM
Ebbie is out of state for a much needed vacation, but will tune in to hear the "zingers" that Mitt has been practicing since August. Hopefully we will hear substantive solutions instead of sound bites.

He's too busy waiting for death.

I think it would be a good idea if each person wore a name tag with their "Patch" names....
James R Hoffa October 03, 2012 at 06:12 AM
@Steve Ebbie - Enjoy your vacation!
James R Hoffa October 03, 2012 at 06:13 AM
That's exactly what Hoffa was going to do had he been able to attend!
Michael McClusky October 03, 2012 at 10:23 AM
@fog horn You are exactly right! Both parties have been bought off by 'dark money.' Vote for Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party and preserve our freedoms!
Nuitari (Grand Master Editor) October 03, 2012 at 11:55 AM
Hence Nuitari will not mingle with half you m-er-f-er's.

I wonder how little the Obama campaign is paying, if anything, for those political ads that play every time we come to the Patch.
Lee October 03, 2012 at 03:20 PM
I wondered the same thing. Only I hear the Romney ads. How about that. I too wonder how little the Romney campaign is paying, if anything. Wake up and smell the coffee. Did you really only think it was only the Obama campaign. Don't you watch TV. Ad after ad, flips from one party to the other. Same applies here.

@Jimmy --- I can understand your reluctance to attend any meeting after that last business lunch you were at ! Now that they have verified that you are not under a driveway --- in full disclosure -- how about a Tale from the Crypt as to your whereabouts :-)
James R Hoffa October 03, 2012 at 05:12 PM
@David - Hoffa never did make it into the Red Fox! As to "a Tale from the Crypt as to your whereabouts" - Valkenvania ;-)

My "Patch" name is my real name. I am not afraid to stand up for what I believe in as a conservative American.
