Media Trackers Files Complaint with GAB

Media Trackers, a non-profit government watchdog, filed a complaint with the Government Accountability Board and the district attorney's office Tuesday morning, alleging illegal election and electioneering activities by Wisconsin Jobs Now! The group offered chicken dinners, raffle tickets and a ride to City Hall to voters. According to the GAB, offering food or consideration of any sort in exchange for someone voting in an election is illegal.

Darling: Those Making Over $250,000 'Aren't Wealthy People'

Greg Sargent, a blogger for the Washington Post's Plum Line, discusses the significance of Sen. Alberta Darling stating on a radio show with Mark Belling that those who are making over $250,000 should not see higher taxes because they are "not wealthy."

Darling later clarified that remark, saying  she was trying to make a distinction between wealthy people and small businesses. Yes, she said, any family with an income of $250,000 or more is wealthy.

Dems Say Internal Polling Shows Their Candidates Leading or Tied

Sargent also is reporting that Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate said party polling shows that Democratic candidates are leading or in a dead heat in all six of the races to recall Wisconsin state senators.

The Democratic is leading in three races, and essentially tied in three, including the 8th Senate District, where Darling is matched up against Democrat Sandy Pasch.

“Beating Alberta Darling is the crown jewel of our efforts,” Tate said, noting that she had played a major role in writing Scott Walker’s union busting proposals.

While Pasch has raised more money in July than incumbent Darling, the Republican incumbent has more money on hand. Reports filed with the Government Accountability Board show that, in July, Pasch raised $190,903, compared to Darling's $165,155. However, to date, Darling has raised $1,123,574 to Pasch's $622,680.
