Liberal Group Sues Darling Over Open Records Request

Liberal group One Wisconsin Now has filed an official complaint in Dane County Circuit Court alleging that state Sen. Alberta Darling ignored their open records request.

“She has repeatedly ignored a reasonable open records request and we have been forced to file this lawsuit because Sen. Alberta Darling thinks the laws of Wisconsin do not apply to her,” said Scot Ross, executive director of the group.

The Tea Party Express will roll into Wisconsin Friday, making a stop in Thiensville Saturday in support of Darling and her battle to keep her 8th District Senate seat.

The rally will kick off around 5:30 p.m. at Thiensville Village Park and occurs just days before Aug. 9, when Rep. Sandy Pasch (D-Whitefish Bay) challenges Darling (R-River Hills).

Pasch spoke at the Milwaukee Press Club Monday, the same day that asking the state to investigate whether there is any collusion between Pasch's campaign and Citizen Action of Wisconsin, a special-interest group.

“I have not had no contact with them about any political activities or any political plans that they’ve been making. I cut off contact with them,” she said.

However, the group Media Trackers said it uncovered e-mails that Citizen Action had sent to Pasch about its political activities. Many of those e-mails were sent to her state e-mail account.

In an appearance the next day at the Milwaukee Press Club, Darling was asked whether she was confident about winning the re-election.

“I’m not sure. It’s going to be about turnout. It’s about turnout,” she replied. “Is this tense for me? Yes. Do I think I’m going to win? I’m giving it my best shot.”
