While it may be pretty, "Wild Carrot" or Queen Ann's Lace is actually an invasive species. Here's some tips to help keep it under control.
Queen Anne's Lace, also known as "Wild Carrot", is a common plant in ditches, dry fields, and open areas. In fact, the carrots we eat today were once cultivated from this plant. You have probably seen it growing alongside the road or in ditches around this area. Queen Anne's Lace can quickly invade open ground and compete for resources with native plants and grasses.
Managing Queen Anne's Lace
Manual- Hand-pull or mow close to the ground before seed set in mid to late summer. Use gloves when handling this plant.
Chemical- It can be effectively controlled using any of several readily available general use herbicides such as 2, 4-D and triclopyr.
