Vegans (and Dairy Allergies) Need Love Too!

In an effort to serve those with a dairy-free diet, making our smoothies with orange juice, instead of yogurt is just as tasty and does not change the consistency or taste dramatically.

is quickly establishing a place in the community where people can get quality yogurt that is yummy and great for the waistline. Yet, that I wanted to address personally. A member of the community asked about vegan and dairy-free options for herself (a vegan) and a relative (has a dairy allergy). As a vegetarian, I LOVE that Red Mango is vegetarian on top of being Kosher and gluten-free. Yet, I was concerned about dairy-free options starting about six months ago as well.

We have a beautiful new baby named Sydney. As a newborn, we discovered that she had an allergy to dairy, coming through in my breastmilk. In an effort to continue to nurse her, I gave up dairy in my own diet. From a parenting perspective, I think that breastfeeding is tremendously bonding for parent and child, on top of the bountiful health benefits. With that said, Sydney's health was my number one concern. This bodes a little conflicting seeing as how we were opening a yogurt store!

In an effort to serve those with a dairy-free diet, we went to Red Mango corporate who informed us that making our smoothies with orange juice, instead of yogurt is just as tasty and does not change the consistency or taste dramatically.

If you and/or a family member have allergy concerns, please feel free to speak up. We are very concerned about nut allergies and label everything containing nuts. We also lable our yogurt containing milk and/or soy. And now we have ways to make vegan alternatives to some of our most popular menu items, so you still have delicious options at Red Mango that will not hamper your dietary contraints.

Come on in and tell them that baby Sydney sent you!

Dave, thank you for a thoughtful comment, "...privatize the gains and socialize theRead More losses" gives a lot to think about. I also wish we had looked at restructuring the tax code to cover two unfunded wars.

“The state is only a year out of the recall mess that stalled any real change and any outsideRead More investment.” [WI = Mississippi II] What real change has been stalled? The “Love” Gov. Walker of yours has had his way with passing austerity, Neanderthal budgets, disenfranchising voters, repealing fair wages for women, Act 10, marginally crippling unions, because they invariably support the middle class and Democratic party, putting Billions on the credit card, and then, disingenuously claiming to have “balanced the budget” and created a huge surplus as well, and now – think small government here – is moving forward with ultrasounds for all women contemplating abortion, and we cannot forget the “mine” which, will create 700 low paying permanent jobs for Wisconsinites… all of these masterful initiatives have one thing in common: they are all tied up in the courts, and will not be resolved for years, and, the taxpayers of Wisconsin are all paying for Steve’s love affair with the “Love” Gov. Walker and his serial abortions… What will you say on June 5, 2014, when WI is the same as it is today or worse? I know. “Well, it is only 2-years out of the recall mess…”
