From Government Dependence to True Independence

Instead of working to move individuals from government dependence to true independence, the solution in Washington these days is more spending and regulation, which merely hampers the opportunity for growth.

Governor Walker looks at the situation with a different approach. Instead of measuring success by the number of people who are dependent on government, he is working to provide Wisconsinites with the chance to create their own opportunities apart from government.  These last two years we have seen those results firsthand in Wisconsin. By providing people with the tools needed to succeed and shifting them from dependence on government to true independence, he is working to give them a hand up for a better future instead of a never-ending hand out. He views this as the ultimate success.

Governor Walker’s bold reforms look to help expand Wisconsin’s economy and to provide a better opportunity for all. He put in place long-term structural reforms, which have already saved taxpayers over $1 billion. This type of reform benefits all Wisconsinites.

Under Governor Walker’s leadership, we are breaking the generational cycle of government dependence and providing people a hand up to help them be successful and not a never-ending hand out. While preserving a necessary safety net for the state’s most vulnerable, he is also giving able bodied individuals the ability to build a self-sustaining life for themselves and their families. All Wisconsinites deserve the opportunity for prosperity, and it is a priority we must work toward.

Governor Walker is working to change the way government operates to make it easier on you, the taxpayer, so that we may have greater prosperity for all.
