Transforming Education

Governor Walker's policies are helping students throughout Wisconsin. By expanding School Choice we are giving even more opportunities for parents to have a voice in their children's education.

Transforming education is a top priority in the Governor’s budget. That’s why he has proposed adding an additional $475 million into public education and providing a system based upon performance and results.

Governor Walker believes each and every child, regardless of zip code, deserves access to a world-class education. Not only will School Choice make the difference for the children currently enrolled, but will provide an opportunity for success in and out of the classroom.

School Choice has already seen tremendous success in two areas of the Badger State. Students in School Choice programs are more likely to graduate than those in public schools. Due to the beneficial nature of the program, School Choice has become a breeding ground for success and should be echoed in other areas.

Governor Walker has proposed reforming education to give greater opportunity for our children in a competitive, global economy. While this benefits students first, it is also advantageous to the taxpayer: Choice schools saved more than $52 million in taxpayer dollars in 2011.

The facts show the results have worked. Students in choice schools see equal or better results than those in the public schools and have higher graduation rates. Giving parents the freedom to determine their children’s education and allowing our youth to have the proper tools at their disposal for future success will benefit all of Wisconsin. In turn, we will prepare students for college, the workforce, and a brighter future.
