Closed: Bayside Middle School Without Heat

A Fox Point parent reports power was out to the fifth and sixth-grade wing Monday. Superintendent Rachel Boechler confirmed late Monday night there will be no school Tuesday for middle school students.

Around 10 p.m. Monday night, Bayside Middle School parents and staff received a group voicemail from Superintendent Rachel Boechler that the school would be closed Tuesday after a report of no heat in the building.

Fox Point parent Jen Haraway said the school lost power in the fifth and sixth-grade wing around noon Monday.

"I'm guessing the heat issue must be related," she said. "The new voicemail was an error. It said the district was closed due to weather. The latest voice mail confirmed the error, but said Bayside Middle School is still closed."

Without power, everything in the school from bubblers to toilets to sinks will not operate. That means no hot lunch, too.

Boechler confirmed via text message Monday night that the middle school will be closed Tuesday due to the lack of heat.
