School officials approved contract extensions for Maple Dale-Indian Hill District School Chief Mary Jordan Dean, and a handful of adminstrators and non-teaching staff, Wednesday night.
The School Board approved a two-year extension for Dean, as well as one-year extensions for Indian Hills Principal and Director of Instruction Tim Reyer, School Psychologist and Special Education Coordinator Deborah Cook and Instruction Technology Integrator Chris See.
Additionally, Administrative Assistant Sue Simpson Bark and Business Reports Coordinator Cindy Baker saw one-year contract extensions OK'd.
The School Board will likely take up salary and benefit recommendations for those employees in April, Business Administrator Gary Swalve said.
"The board approved the extensions basically to ensure the people are in place," Swalve said.
In the 2011-12 school year, Dean was salaried for her dual role in the district at $147,974, according to state Department of Public Instruction data. Reyer received $76,220 during that school year for his duties in the district. And, Swalve made $78,216.
The board was scheduled to vote on a one-year contract extension for Swalve but tabled it. Board member Pam Scheferman said the district simply needs more time to examine his contract.
Officials also approved the hire of fourth grade teacher Kristina Carr, a former Milwaukee Public Schools and Elmbrook School District educator. Carr joins the district as veteran physical education and health teacher Carol Mayer retires after 29 years.
