David Smulyan Appointed to Fox Point-Bayside School Board

The founder and president of a management consulting company will succeed former School Board President Debbie Friberg, who resigned in mid-June.

School officials selected David Smulyan Thursday to fill the open seat on the Fox Point-Bayside School Board, Fox PointNOW reports.

Smulyan, founder and president of the management consulting company Optimal Solutions Squared, according to the newspaper, will succeed former School Board President Debbie Friberg who resigned after moving to Charlotte, North Carolina in mid-June.

Smulyan was selected from a pool of four candidates and will serve through April 2014; then the spring election will decide who will complete Friberg’s term through April 2015.

First elected in 2009, Friberg was appointed to the role of board president about one month before resigning.

Smulyan ran unsuccessfully for School Board last spring.
