TOPIC: Funding Social Services: What’s Everyone’s Fair Share?  

Today’s taxes fund defense, security, public works, and social services. How does Jewish law articulate a community’s role in furthering the welfare of the people? What types of needs should be funded? And what exactly constitutes a need versus a want? We’ll see how this study frames an effective discussion for ethical decisions by a modern government.

ACTIVITY: Hand Hammered Keepsake Bracelets 

Led by local artist Wendy Bernstein, we’ll hand-stamp metal bracelets with special phrases, words, or the names of loved ones. The finished product is an elegant gift just in time for Chanukah or wearable art to treasure yourself.
