Jeffers, Bergeron Retire From Stormonth School

Music teacher Twila Bergeron and fourth grade teacher Paulie Jeffers received a nice retirement send-off at the School Board meeting Tuesday night.

Stormonth Elementary School will soon say goodbye to two beloved teachers with a combined 43 years experience in the district.

The two were honored with retirement gifts at the beginning of the the Fox Point-Bayside School Board meeting Tuesday night.

With 17 years experience in the district, retiring music teacher Twila Bergeron has touched many childrens' lives with music. Stormonth Principal Dan Westfahl said he first got to know Bergeron three years ago, and she "immediately captured my heart with her kindness, thoughtfulness and devotion to the children of our district."

Her fellow teachers had equally nice things to say about her:

"She has an amazing ability to find strengths in every child and help them to find roles that highlight these areas. No child has ever been left out as she orchestrated grand productions. She was able to find the perfect match for anyone who tried out."

"Through Twila's work, every child stands a little bit taller, and a little bit wider, having been given the chance to showcase their own talents.

Also retiring is fourth-grade teacher Pauli Jeffers, who moved here from upstate New York in 1982. Both of her sons went through Fox Point-Bayside Schools and attended Nicolet High School. She began her work in the Fox Point-Bayside School district in 1987 as a kindergarten aide, but eventually settled in fourth grade.

Here are a couple comments Westfahl solicited from her fellow teachers:

"Her car is often the last one to leave at night and the first to arrive in the morning."

"Her lessons reflect a deep understanding of children's needs, which is also reflected in her tireless work before and after school and during recess to make sure all students get the help they need."

"She leads with grace and professionalism that's a motto for us all."
