Knights Update: Boys Volleyball Needs Two Wins For State Berth

Team has been to state four consecutive years and is the No. 1 sectional seed.

Here is this week's Knight Update courtesy of Nicolet High School Athletic/Activities Director Kirk Krychowiak.

The boys volleyball team will begin its run for a fifth consecutive trip to the state tournament with a home match Tuesday night against the Fond Du Lac Cardinals.  A win would put the team in the sectional championship game at home on Thursday vs. the Germantown/Arrowhead winner.

The girls swim/dive team competed last week in the North Shore Conference Tournament.  The varsity finished fourth overall with 245 points. Junior Christa Rumbaugh finished second in the girls 100 freestyle. This week, the divers will compete in the sectionals on Friday at Cedarburg High School beginning at 6 p.m. and the swimmers will compete in the sectionals and a chance at state on Saturday at Cedarburg High School beginning at noon.

The cross country team had two runners compete in the WIAA state meet in Wisconsin Rapids this past weekend: Senior Josh Greenberg and Junior Lauren Cunningham.

The boys soccer team received several all-conference recognitions. Earning first-team honors were: senior Mike Goldstein (defender) and junior Kyle Siverhus (goalkeeper).  Second-team honors went to Junior Mike Yarmulnik (midfielder) and honorable mention went to junior Brady Behling (Forward) and junior Collin Gruener (defender).

The football team received several all-conference recognitions. Earning first-team honors was senior defensive lineman Bernard Stutts. Second team was awarded to junior linebacker Hunter Crass, senior linebacker Bryce Bowen, junior defensive back Tyler Crass and senior punter Brandon Kappel.  Honorable mention went to senior tight end Alex Walker, defensive back Denzel Allen and Hunter Crass at offensive line. Team awards were as follows: Team MVP QB/Punter/Kicker Brandon Kappel. Offensive MVP Treland Jenkins. Defensive MVP Hunter Crass. Special Teams MVP Bryce Bowen.  Rookie of the Year Alex Knaus Black Lion Award Alex Walker.

The football banquet is 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Nicolet cafeteria. Freshmen please bring a dessert, sophomores and juniors please bring a salad.  $5 per person will be collected at the door.  Questions please contact Mary Kappel.

The Nicolet Booster Club is holding a fundraiser at the Mongolian Grill beginning at 5 p.m. Nov. 10.  There is a booster club meeting scheduled for this Wednesday at 7 p.m. in room B113.

Nicolet High School will celebrate "National Letter of Intent Signing Day" for college athletes to be: Seniors Krystalyn Goode (volleyball) and Brittney Fair (basketball) on at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 in the Community Room (F106).  Please come celebrate this special occurrence for these two wonderful athletes.
