The boys volleyball team beat rival Whitefish Bay at home last Wednesday.  All three levels were victorious and all three levels are in first place in the conference.  This week the team will play at Homestead on Wednesday before heading to WFB for an invitational on Saturday.  Despite having to replace three all-state players, the Knights will be shooting for their fifth straight trip to the state tournament.  So far Nicolet has beaten every team in its sectional and is likely to receive the No. 1 seed. Nicolet will host the sectional final this year and the team has not lost a home match to anyone but Marquette or Tosa East in five years.  Key contributors this season have been Dan Mulcahy who has 228 kills, 30 blocks and 100 digs.  Senior Matt Dixon has 102 kills and 15 1/2 blocks. Junior libero Chris Sorenson has totaled 139 digs and Steven Richards is at 391 assists.  Spencer Borneman, Jordan Teichen and Matt Bootsma have also been key to the team's success thus far.  The freshman and JV teams will travel to Arrowhead for tournaments on Saturday.

Girls golf team member Emily Murphy ended her season falling just short of making it to the WIAA State Tournament.  Competing in the sectionals last Tuesday, Emily shot a 92 at Bristol Oaks Golf Course in Kenosha. Congratulations to Emily and the team for placing third in the North Shore Conference Tournament.

The girls volleyball team remained undefeated (6-0) in the conference with a dramatic victory over Germantown, 25-23, 20-25, 20-25, 25-21, 15-11. Team leaders were: Melissa Morello with 21 kills and 27 digs, Dana Kenney with a team-record 61 assists, Krystalyn Goode with eight block kills (Goode also had a career high 19 kills), and Mallory Kane with four aces. Angie Morello also shined Thursday night with a career-high 15 kills and stellar all-around play. The team will close out its conference regular season on Tuesday at Whitefish Bay (freshmen and JV at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6:30 p.m.) and travel to Cedarburg on Saturday for the conference tournament. The varsity team also earned the No. 1 seed in sectional 8 and will play the winner of the Riverside/Milwaukee King match on Oct. 22 (time TBA).  The Knights are vying for a second trip to the WIAA State Tournament in the past three years.  The freshman team will host the freshman conference tournament on Friday.

The football team lost a hard-fought battle to Germantown at home last Thursday night 28-12.  Treland Jenkins returned a kickoff 90 yards to put the Knights on the board and Bryce Bowen returned an interception 14 yards to close out the scoring for the Knights.  The Knights will travel to Whitefish Bay for the last conference game of the year on Friday.  JV will play Thursday at Bay and the freshmen will close out their season with a home game Thursday against the Blue Dukes.

The girls swim team lost to Cedarburg 115-70 and 115-61 in varsity and JV competition, respectively, last Monday. Christa Rumbaugh was the only event winner for the Knights.  This week, the team will host Germantown in a conference dual meet on Tuesday and will host its annual Knights 11 Dive Invitational on Friday.

The boys soccer team will begin WIAA playoff action as the sixth seed vs. the 11th-seeded Milwaukee Riverside squad at Uihlein Field on Tuesday at 5 p.m.  A win would put the team in a second-round rematch with Milwaukee Ronald Reagan on Thursday.  The Knights finished 3-4 in conference play and will look to make their third straight appearance in the WIAA Sectional round.
