Most Incumbents Will Have a Smooth RIde in Spring Election

Just a few new faces have surfaced for both the local school and village boards.

Most incumbents in the local village and school board races in the spring election will have an easy time getting re-elected in April as just two contested races have emerged in Fox Point and Bayside.

Tuesday was the last day for candidates to file paperwork to get on the April 5 ballot.

Contested elections will take place on the Fox Point Village Board and Nicolet School Board, while incumbents in the Bayside Village Board, and the Fox Point-Bayside and Maple Dale-Indian Hills school boards face no opposition.

Here's a look at how things stack up:

has two open seats this year. Incumbents Laurel Bear and Kelly Herda are not seeking re-election. However, newcomers Andrew Cegielski, 1600 West Good Hope Rd.; Morton M. Grodsky, 559 W. Luebbe Ln.; and Joseph Kasle, 2510 W. Dean Ct. will be on the ballot.

Board members serve three-year terms and are paid $1,000 annually.

Two seats also will be on the ballot for the . Mark Goldstein, 160 W. Indian Creek Ct., has filed for re-election, and incumbent Rob Ricigliano has decided not to run for re-election. Terms are three years and there is no salary. No new candidates have turned in paperwork.

has two seats up for grab, the posts held by incumbents Timothy Melchert, 401 E. Bradley Rd..  and Alice Lawton, 9356 N. Lake Dr. Both have filed for re-election. No challangers have filed. Terms are three years and there is no salary.

Two challengers have surfaced to take on a pair of incumbents on the Fox Point Village Boad.

Newcomers Christine Symchych, 7240 N. Barnett Ln., and Kevin Behl, 700 E. Daisy Ln., have filed papers to run for two seats on the board now held by trustees Bill Warner, 413 E Willow Rd., and Don Zien, 6406 N. Berkeley Blvd.

Village President Mike West has filed to run again and is unopposed.

The length of term for each position is three years and there is no salary.

In Bayside, Village President Sam Dickman, 9410 N. Lake Dr., and trustees Robb DeGraff, 9211 N. Regent Rd., and William Hersch, 9054 N. Bayside Dr., all have filed for re-election. No challengers surfaced this year.

Board members serve three-year terms and are paid $1,200 annually.
