The School Board is conducting interviews in closed session Friday and Saturday.

Nicolet school officials began interviewing candidates for superintendent Friday.

Illinois-based consulting firm, Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates, was hired to aid in the search for a new school chief after Nicolet High School Superintendent Rick Monroe announced he would retire at the end of the school year.

The School Board will interview candidates in closed session Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. It's unclear how many candidates have been invited for interview.

Nicolet didn't return a reporter's voicemail seeking comment.

The consultant used a list of 10 characteristics the school community wanted to see in its new superintendent. The list emerged after the firm held focus groups, interviewed 103 employees and community members, and fieled 206 responses to an online survey.
