Nicolet Boys Basketbal Kicks Off With Home Opener Tuesday Night

Girls basketball begins road to holding Division 1 Title Friday.

The boys basketball team begins its season with a home  contest against West Bend West Tuesday night. The frosh and JV tip off will begin  at 5:45 p.m. and the varsity will play at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, all three teams will suit up again as they travel to Wauwatosa West with the frosh beginning at 1 p.m., JV at 2:30 p.m. and varsity at 4 p.m.

The girls basketball team will begin its defense of their Division 1 State Championship at home on Friday vs. Milwaukee King. The frosh and JV will begin at 5:45 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m.

The boys swim and dive team will kickoff its season Tuesday night at Homestead High School in a conference dual meet at 6 p.m., then will host their annual Knights Sprint Invitational on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The wrestling team will be hosting its 2nd Annual Nicolet Scramble Wrestling Tournament on Saturday with 18 teams beginning at 9 a.m.

The Nicolet/ girls hockey co-op team competed in the Gobbler Cup Tournament this past weekend and split a pair of games. Nicolet's Laine Tomesch and Abby Berman's team is now 1-2 and will skate Thursday at  University School vs. Arrowhead at 7 p.m. and Friday at Beaver Dam at 2 p.m.

The Nicolet/Whitefish Bay boys hockey co-op team will have their first "Spirit Night" at their first home game at MSOE on Saturday vs. Arrowhead. Varsity will begin at 5 p.m. and JV at 7 p.m. Their are a ton of fun activities for students to
participate in. The team will open its season on the road vs. Beaver Dam on Tuesday night. Representing Nicolet are Jacob Frazer, Sean Leahy, Steven Olig, Jack Rabenn, Nick Sullivan, John Unsworth and Daniel Waldman.

Nicolet Senior Melissa Morello was named the Journal Sentinel's Area Girls Volleyball Player of the Year. Melissa led the Knights to their third straight League title this year and an overall 33-13 record. She, along with teammate
Krystalyn Goode, were also named to the 2011 American Volleyball Coaches
Association/Under Armour High School Honorable Mention All-American team.
The teams represent the top 100 senior girls volleyball players in the nation.

Nicolet Graduate Ashley Green came off the bench to score a team high 18 points on 8-10 shooting in UWM's first victory of the season against Western Illinois on Saturday night. Ashley added seven rebounds, three assists and had no turnovers for the Panthers.
