Nicolet School Board Candidate Drops Out of Race

Melody Halstrom will be on the April ballot, but says she will not take position if elected.

Melody Halstrom, 777 W. Dean Rd., announced Thursday that she is no longer running for a in the April 3 election.

She said fellow candidate, Libby Gutterman, has many of the same goals and opinions that Halstrom does, so there's really no need for her to run for the board.

"It would be a redundancy," Halstrom said. "I'm not running."

School Board President Marilyn Franklin said that it's not possible to remove Halstrom's name from the April ballot. However, Halstrom says that if she is elected, she simply won't take the seat.

"The three names will appear on the ballot and whoever gets the top two votes will be the winner," Franklin said.
