The champs fought to the very end, but the two-year run of dominance by the Nicolet girls basketball team ended Tuesday night.
The Knights fell 49-44 to Arrowhead in a sectional semifinal game at Waukesha South on Thursday night. The ended the season with a 21-4 mark.
Arrowhead — who lost by 33 points to Nicolet in a tournament game last year — led 22-13 at halftime this time around. Brittney Fair (20 points) led the Knights back into a 29-27 lead, according to JSOnline.com. It remained close until the final seconds, but Arrowhead made its free throws and defended Nicolet's last plays well.

"I think if we would've came out with the same focus in the first half as we did in the second half that might've made a difference," said Nicolet coach Corey Wolf. "Our team came out the second half with more intensity on defense and got a better feeling for their (Arrowhead's) offense."
Fair ended her outstanding senior season with a scoring average of 20.8 points, according to WisSports.net.
