No Weapons Found After Fairview South Threat, Lockdown

A student reportedly threatened to bring a gun to school Thursday morning, but police are investigating to determine what exactly transpired.

Fairview South School was on lockdown for about 30 minutes Thursday morning after a student reported another student threatened to bring a gun to school, according to Anne Moore, director of communications for Elmbrook Schools.

The school, which serves about 60 special needs students, notified the Brookfield Police Department about the report. As students were arriving, police were there to investigate.

“The police were aware of the specific student and the vehicle in which he was arriving,” Moore said.

No weapons were found on the student or in the vehicle. Police are still investigating to determine what exactly transpired.

Fairview South students were never in any danger, Moore said. The school district has a strong relationship with police, which helped execute the effective lockdown, she said.

“It was a really good example of how that planning led to a very brief lockdown and kept our students safe,” Moore said.
