Weidner, Wick Take Race for Fox Point-Bayside School Board

Four new faces ran for two seats on the Fox Point-Bayside School Board, and candidates Michael Weidner and Libby Wick won those seats with 31 and 27 percent of the votes, respectively.

In one of three local contested elections Tuesday in Fox Point and Bayside, the race to fill two seats on the Fox Point-Bayside School Board ended with Michael Weidner and Libby Wick coming out on top.

Weider, 44, has been a teacher at Nicolet High School for 10 years, and said he wanted to run for school board to help keep staff morale high. 

"I think the biggest issue is keeping our high quality schools in the face of budgetary constraints," Weider said prior to the election. "During this time, we must do what we can do to keep the morale of our staff high. When staff members believe they are secure in their positions and valued in what they do, they will make the schooling experience positive and productive for our students."

Wick, 51, owns Libby Montana's in Mequon and said she ran for School Board to help the flow of communication between residents, the board, administration, teachers and students. 

"I am a community oriented individual, a good listener, a strong communicator and an experienced problem solver, dealing with difficult economic decisions in my business," she said. "I would like to make sure the Fox Point/Bayside school distrisct continues to be a high performing district that families and teachers want to be a part of."

  • Fox Point Village Board, with four people running for two seats.
