After First-round Rout, Nicolet Fields Cedarburg in Baseball Tourney

Nicolet scored early and often in its WIAA Summer Baseball tournament first-round match against Whitefish Bay on Tuesday.

The Knights made easy work of the Blue Dukes cruising to a 14-2 rout, according to WisSports.net. 

Nicolet batted in three runs in the first inning, another two in the third before rattling off nine runs in late innings, while the Blue Dukes crossed the plate twice in the fourth inning, but committed six errors, according to WisSports.

Alex Braun led the Nicolet offense going 3-4 at the plate and batting in four runs. Cal Gavic batted in two runs for the Blue Dukes, the stat line reads on WisSports.

Whitefish Bay had beaten Nicolet twice in two meetings this season, before meeting its demise on Tuesday.

Nicolet advances to the regional final at Cedarburg on Friday. First pitch is 5:30 p.m.
