Bears Fan Wins Patch's Packers Prediction Contest

Our winner is only person who said Green Bay would score more than 40 points vs. Falcons.

As far as the contestants in Patch's Packers Prediction Contest were concerned, there was no doubt that the Packers would beat the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday to advance to the NFC championship game.

Of the nearly 130 people who entered the contest on Milwaukee-area Patch sites, 90 percent said Green Bay would prevail.

But only one person dared to venture that the Packers would score more than 40 points in the game. And, as much as we hate to say it, he's a Bears fan.

George Wang, owner of Waukesha Tattoo, predicted the Packers would beat the Falcons by a 41-17 score. Nobody else came close and Wang is getting a $100 Visa gift card for his prognostication skills. The actual score of Saturday's game, for those who may have been hibernating, was 48-21.

Taking second in the Patch contest was Scott Husslein of Menomonee Falls, who predicted Green Bay would win 34-24. Husslein will receive a $50 Visa gift card.

Winners were determined by taking the difference between the contestant's predicted points for each team and the actual points scored for each team, and adding those figures. The two people with the lowest totals won the contest.

Others who came the closest to predicting the score include:

  • Krista Bohlmeier of Waukesha: Packers 34, Falcons 24
  • Jennifer Blevins, a contestant from Port Washington-Saukville Patch: Packers 31, Falcons 20
  • Keith Best, another Waukesha Patch contestant: Packers 31, Falcons 20
  • Michael Pyter, a Whitefish Bay Patch contestant: Packers 35, Falcons 28
  • Jeff Wallace, a Fox Point Patch contestant: Packers 28, Falcons 21
  • Teresa Head, another Fox Point Patch contestant: Packers 27, Falcons 20
  • Steve Kabelowsky, an additional Fox Point Patch contestant: Packers 27, Falcons 24.

If you didn't win this time, don't worry: We're doing it all over again for the NFC title game against the Chicago Bears. Check back with Patch later this week for details on that contest.
