Knights Update: Soccer Success, Top Tennis Players and More

A roundup of sports events from Nicolet High School last week, and a look ahead to this week.

Here is a roundup of sports events for the last week at Nicolet High School, courtesy of Athletic Director Kirk Krychowiak:

The Nicolet boys and girls cross country teams had a good meet at
Arrowhead last Thursday. The boys varsity team was lead by Josh
Greenberg, Randy Grzybowski, Chris Welker, Aaron Zetley, Alan Bahn and Greg Pigg. The JV team had strong showings by Jake Sevenich, Henry Nelson and Andrew Lipscomb. On the girls side, the Varsity was lead by a strong run from Lauren Cunningham who finished 11th. Hilary Miller, Kristen Maling, Grace Dykstra and Tiffany Pigg rounded out the scoring for the Lady Knights. On the JV side, Christie Crossman, Allison Maling and Jordy Borneman led the scoring. The Knights cross country teams next meet will be at Kletzsch Park on Thursday.

The Nicolet girls tennis team finished third in its Sweet 16 Inviational
behind Homestead and DSHA. The No. 1 doubles crown was also won by Homestead, as Carly Peck and Sophia Lococo defeated Nicolet's Erin Miller and Sarah Miller, 6-2, 6-2, in the final. Nicolet's Josie Docalavich was the No. 4 champion. This week, the girls netters will take on Germantown at home Thursday.

The Nicolet Girls Volleyball team beat Milwaukee Lutheran last week 25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 25-9 to run their record to 2-0 in conference play. The leaders were Dana Kenney with 41 assists, Melissa Morello with 22 kills, Rebecca Olin and Krystalyn Goode with 3 block kills each and Alex Lautmann with 18 digs. At the Brookfield Central Invite, the girls finished in 3rd place out of 16 teams with 7 of the top 10 teams in the state competing. They beat two teams in the top 10: West Bend West and Muskego. They travel to Westosha Central on Thursday. The JV team will go to Whitnal High School for a tournament on Saturday.

The Nicolet girls swim team defeated Milwaukee Lutheran 121-44 and 92-32 in varsity and junior varsity action last week. Winning varsity events were Annie Schoenfeldt, Sophie Cohen, Liz Meister, Emily Zuelzke, Lexi Nomikos, Hannah Sprung, Sophia Carlton and Allison Mitchell.

Again, the leaders for the Knights last week were quarterback Brandon Kappel, Hunter Crass, Tyler Crass and Bryce Bowen. The frosh team won their first game defeating Milwaukee Lutheran last Thursday 42-8. This week, the JV team is at home on Thursday while the frosh travel to Port. Kickoff for the Varsity Homecoming game on Friday is 7 p.m.

The . Brady Behling had a hattrick scoring three goals. Alex Friedland and Mike Yarmulnik also scored goals in the shutout win. The JV1 team tied 1-1.

On Friday night, . Friedland scored a spectacular goal from 35 yards out and birthday boy Yarmulnik connected from junior Nick Sullivan. The team is now 5-4-2 overall. The JV and Varsity teams will head to South Milwaukee on Saturday.

The Nicolet Boys Volleyball frosh and JV teams will head to Tosa East for a varsity Invite on Saturday.

The Nicolet Girls Golf team in full swing. Last Tuesday, the team placed
one stroke out of third place in the NSC meet at the Northshore Country Club. Leading the team again was Emily Murphy who carted a 44. Currently, Emily is in fourth place as an invididual medalist behind three members of Homestead's No. 1 State Ranked team. Other major contributors are Rachel Rabenn and Jaclyn Clark. The team will compete against Winagamie on Saturday.

The Nicolet Booster Club will be selling Spirit Wear before the football
game on Friday and at halftime. Please bring cash or checks.

The on Oct. 1. Breakfast tickets for pancake and omelet stations are on sale now in the Athletic Office for just $15 for adults, and $5 kids under 14.
