Lady Knights Remain Undefeated

Boys basketball team drops a pair of games over holiday break.

The Nicolet High School boys basketball team dropped a pair of games over the break in the Brookfield Central Tournament. Gregg Pigg led the team with 13 points in the loss against Central. Alex Dranzik dropped in 10. In a close five-point loss to Hartford, Corey Smith and Eugene Bonner led the Knights with 14 and 13 points respectively. This week, the Boys host Cedarburg on Friday.

The girls basketball team continues to be perfect after capturing the  Championship in Franklin's Christine Rathke Memorial Tournament over the Holidays. In a three-day span, the Lady Knights beat Franklin, Pius and the Oshkosh Lourdes to take home the trophy and move up to No. 2 in the rankings. Against Franklin, Briana Gray scored 23 points in the 52-44 win. Against Pius,
Brittney Fair scored 28 in helping the girls overcome a 14-0 deficit and win 48-44. In the championship game, the Fair again led the team in scoring with 17 but it was the defense led by Courtney Smith, Lanoira Duhart, Becca Olin and Jazmine Stacey that rose up to win this game. The girls are now 9-0 (4-0) and
head out on the road to face Cedarburg Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The boys swim and dive team travels to Grafton on Thursday night to take on the Blackhawks in a conference dual meet at 6 p.m.

The wrestling team traveled to UW-Whitewater over the winter break to compete in their annual Holiday two-day, 43-team tournament. Nine Nicolet wrestlers competed and scored a total of 53 points, up 20 from the previous year. The Knights also improved 10 team places by finishing 23rd overall. Individually, Jon McKay finished third in the 220 weight class and Keondre Walton-Cooper took seventh place at 182. This week the team will travel to Grafton on Thursday and
then to West Allis Hale High School for a tournament on Saturday.

The Nicolet/ girls hockey co-op team traveled to Blaine, MN. to play in the prestigious Schwan Cup Tournament and returned victorious as tournament champions. They swept all three games, improving their record
to 10-2 overall. The team will face some tough competition this week traveling to to Arrowhead on Thursday night and Green Bay East on Friday night.

The Nicolet/Whitefish Bay boys hockey co-op team made it to the championship game of the Admirals Cup last week losing to Marquette after defeating the second and third seeded teams as the sixth seed. In the win against Cedarburg 4-0, Nicolet's Sean Leahy pitched a shutout and Nick Sullivan scored to lift
the team to victory. This week, the team will skate at DC Everest on Friday and Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday.

The gymnastics team won their first meet of the season just before the break defeating West Allis 122.4 to 118.45. In Varsity competition, Valerie Whittle took first on floor, beam, vault and bars. Kim Charles took third on floor and beam along with Rachel Rabenn taking second on beam. Haley Raj took first in the all around. On JV, Sophie Eiseman took first on floor and third on bars. Ally Markus took second on floor and first on vault. Sharlotte Urwin took second on bars.  Callie Mannion took first in the allo around.

The ski team entered its first race of the season behing long time coach Terry McMahon on Thursday night at Heiliger Ski Club in Hartford at 6 p.m.
