Middleton Eliminates Lakeshore Lacrosse

Early lead doesn't hold up against fast, talented Cardinal team.

The Lakeshore Lacrosse team lost to Middleton 14-8 on Thursday in the second round of the state high school playoffs.

Lakeshore is a co-op team comprised of players from Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, Nicolet, Port Washington and other North Shore schools.

Lakeshore started strong with two quick goals by junior Anders Bjella, but Middleton's fast and physical transition game put the Cardinals ahead at halftime, 7-4.

"Middleton is one of the top teams in the state," he said. "Our guys never gave up and played hard through the end — we were never out of this game.  I'm really proud of this team.  Our play improved every game this year, resulting in our moving from being unranked at the beginning of the season to a top 10, competitive team."
