Knights Girls Basketball Extends Perfect Record
Girls advance to 5-0 in conference after clobbering Cedarburg 54-33 on Friday night.
The girls basketball team maintained its perfect record in the North Shore Conference, whipping the Cedarburg Bulldogs 54-33 on Friday.
“We’re very athletic and when our kids work hard defensively, it fuels our offense,” Coach Corey Wolf said about the Knights (11-0, 5-0 NSC), who have won 27 consecutive games.
One player that has put it all together this year is senior who recently won the Army National Guard Athlete of the Week for her efforts in the Rathke Memorial Tournament. Fair was the leading scorer against Cedarburg, matching her season average of 20 points.
Wolf said Fair not only is a great scorer, but she and fellow senior captains Courtney Smith and Rebecca Olin provide stellar leadership.
“I think that’s why we’ve won a lot of our games," she said. "Our kids look to them not just in games, but in practice. They work hard and they’re great teammates.”
The team hopes to extend its perfect season at Germantown at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Knights have a full week to prepare for Germantown, who is 2-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference. However, coach Wolf acknowledges that the Warhawks will be another tough North Shore opponent.
“We just need to take it one game at a time,” Wolf said. “Our goal is to win the conference but in the meantime, we can’t get hung up on that.”
