Rose Bowl 2013: Local Wisconsin Badgers to Watch

As the Wisconsin Badgers take the field on Tuesday, there are plenty of Milwaukee County residents to root for in the game vs. Stanford.

For Milwaukee County residents, the Rose Bowl is more than just a long-standing tradition of New Year’s Day football. With several local residents playing for the Wisconsin Badgers, there’s plenty to cheer for this year.

Joel Stave, a redshirt freshman from Whitnall High School in Greenfield, started six games at quarterback this season before suffering a broken collarbone. He completed 70 of 118 passes for 1,104 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. Stave has been cleared to play in the Rose Bowl but Curt Phillips will start, according to SBNation.com. He was named Academic All-Big Ten.

Rick Wagner, a redshirt senior from West Allis Hale, will be asked to protect whoever is playing quarterback. He started 11 games at left tackle and was consensus All-Big Ten first team.
