Tennis teams from Wauwatosa and Brookfield played indoors at Marquette's Helfaer Recreation Center on Wednesday for berths in the WIAA state championships coming up this weekend. Check it out in our Game of the Week, highlighted by a stirring comeback from a Brookfield East doubles squad.

Local athletes are set to make a big impact at this weekend's WIAA state track and field meet in LaCrosse. Among the top-seeded performers are:

Six players from the Lakeshore Lacrosse team earned all-conference honors from the Milwaukee Area Youth Lacrosse Association, the governing body for high school lacrosse in the area.

First-team honorees were Collin Braam in midfield and Andrew Reidy on defense. On the second team was Quinten Ziegler (faceoff specialist). Earning honorable mention were Dakota Kwasny (faceoff specialist), Anders Bjella (attack), Luke Zoromski (LSM), Alex McMurtry (midfield) and Quinn Mooney (goalie).

Lakeshore Lacrosse is comprised of players from throughout the North Shore, including Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, Nicolet and Port Washington.

Five players from the Brookfield girls team earned mention on the MAYLA all-conference team. Sophomore attack Morgan Hollowell and junior midfielder Grace Barlow are on the first team. Midfielder Mackenzie Norton, defender Kelsey Bohnert and goalie Haley Adams are on the honorable mention team.

Hollowell also was named first-team all-state, and Barlow was honorable mention.

THE WEEK AHEAD

Boys golf sectionals were scheduled to be played today, with teams and individuals vying for berths in the state tournament at University Ridge in Verona.

Girls soccer regionals begin Thursday. Whitefish Bay is a No. 1 seed in Sectional 8 of Division 1, while the incredibly difficult Sectional 7 features some good first-round matchups. Brookfield East (No. 10 seed) visits Hamilton (No. 7); those teams played to a scoreless draw at the beginning of the year. Menomonee Falls (No. 8) hosts Tosa East (No. 9); the . Grafton is the No. 1 seed.

In softball, Menomonee Falls earned a bye with a No. 1 seed and plays Thursday; the rest of the action gets going today.
