Wildcat Boys Take Home Third in Tuesday's Meet

University School girls come in seventh, beating Lake Country Lutheran at USM hosted event.

The Wildcats came in third after being trumped by Brookfield and Shorewood in the boys events, and the girls came in seventh, in the USM Pentacular Part II Track Meet on Tuesday afternoon.

Boy's Results

The Wildcats had several first place winners in the boys’ meet, including three first place finishes in field events. Sophomore Dan Taylor finished first in the discus with a throw of 109-feet, 3-inches beating Mykaell Bratchett, a senior from The Hope School who threw 105-feet, 4-inches.  USM sophomore Julien Addison took fourth place, throwing 102-feet.

USM’s Ben Taylor tied for the lead in the shot put competition, throwing 40-7 1/2 inches.  Taylor tied Antione Davis, a junior from Shorewood.  Julien Addison captured sixth place at 37-5 1/2 inches.  Other top 10 finishers in the event for USM were junior Zachary Steinbrenner who took eighth, and Dan Taylor who finished 10th.

USM freshmen Djdade Denson won the long jump event, leaping of 18-feet, 4-inches, beating Wayland Academy junior Davis Blackwell, who finished at 17-feet, 5-inches.  USM’s Chris Cooper took eighth with a jump of 13-feet, 8-inches.

Wil Gehl, a USM senior, took first place in the 800-meter run, completing it in only 2 minutes, 9.7 seconds.  

Djdade Denson, junior Adam Brostowitz, Dan Taylor, and Wil Gehl captured first place for USM in the 1600-meter relay.  The Wildcat runners finished with a time of 3:43.84.  The foursome beat Shorewood’s Oliver Heywood, Jacob Goldberg, Aidan Mazur, and Michael Dellutri, who finished at 3:48.00.

USM’s Will Stearns took third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.30.  Nate Booth of Shorewood won the event at 47.69.

USM's Bradley Schlesinger, Austin Matthews, Derek Rott, and James Bowen took third in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 10:31.59.  Shorewood’s Jacob Goldberg, Michael Dellutri, Charles Stahl, and Jack Mauer won the race with a time of 9:03.99.

Ian Cooley took sixth for USM in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:51.90.  Gavin Schroeder of Shorewood won the race at 4:33.26.

Here's the final standings for the boy's:

  • Brookfield Academy, 93 points.
  • Shorewood, 88 points. 
  • University School of Milwaukee, 84 points.
  • Wayland Academy, 76 points.
  • St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy, 49 points.
  • The Prairie School, 33 points.
  • The Hope School, 32 points.
  • Racine St. Catherine's, 29 points.
  • Lake Country Lutheran, seven points.

Girl's Results

USM had two winners in the girls events, including Camille Youngblood, who won the 400-meter dash at 1:06.19.  Abigal Snell of BA took second at 1:08.14.

Sophomore Emma Kulick won the 1600 Meter Run for USM at 6:13.30 taking first place. Melody Stier of BA finished second at 6:17.94. 

Kulick also took third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:48.57. Alison Armstrong of BA won the race at 2:44.68.

The Wildcat relay team took second in the 1600-meter relay. Nicole Flanary, Emily Waples, Janel Lucas, and Lindsay Nietzel finished at 4:49.80.  Shorewood’s Kathleen Hackett, Kim Von der Heide, Leila Kane, and Lindsey Morris won the relay with a time of 4:46.28.

In the shot put, Lawton launched it 23-feet, 5 1/2 inches.  Tepley won with a distance of 33-feet, 5 1/2 inches.

Here's the final standings for the girl's:

  • Brookfield Academy, 121 points.
  • Wayland Academy, 88 points.
  • Shorewood, 81 points.
  • The prairie School, 70 points.
  • The Hope School, 49 points.
  • Racine St. Catherine’s, 35 points.
  • University School of Milwaukee, 34 points.
  • Lake Country Lutheran, 19 points.

The USM track and field team will compete again at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, in an invitational at Waukesha South High School.
