The score seesawed in the first half, but in the second, the Wildcats got ahead and then held the Warhawks scoreless to confirm the victory.

USM’s head coach Samantha Adey summed up the day, “We were a bit flat in the first half, making mental mistakes, but we turned it around in the second half, scoring a few goals and then stalling for the majority of the half to come away with the win.  We held them scoreless for the last 21 minutes of the game to seal it up."

With 17 saves during the game USM goalkeeper Ivy McKee did her part to make sure the Warhawks were not going home happy.

The Wildcats added five goals to their side of the scoreboard in the game’s final 18 minutes.  Meredith Jeffers began the scoring spree with a goal at 17:42.   Schwieters added another at 13:39.  Brethauer scored two more, one at 10:28 and another at 8:30.  Claire Prewitt finished the scoring with a goal for USM at 5:21.

The win gives USM a 7-6 record.  The Wildcats face Arrowhead Red, the Warhawks’s number one varsity team, in the 2nd round of the WLF playoffs on Friday at Arrowhead.
