USM Announces New Swimming Coach

University School has appointed Bailey Nennig as head coach for its boys and girls teams.

University School of Milwaukee announced the promotion of Bailey Nennig to the position of Head Boys’ and Girls’ Swimming Coach for the 2011-2012 school year. Nennig will join Brown Deer Head Coach Bob Van Lieshout to form the Brown Deer/University School Swimming and Diving co-op coaching staff.

“Bailey is a local swimming legend who served as our assistant coach last season. Her swimming background includes teaching and coaching experiences that will help her oversee and grow both of our co-op swimming and diving programs,” says USM Athletic Director Rick Johns.

Nennig was a two-time WIAA Division 2 State champion at Grafton High School and a four-year MVP selection. After graduation, Bailey attended the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, where she was frequently a top-five finisher in events at the Horizon League Championships, was the Panthers’ team captain her senior year, and swam in the AT&T Short Course National Championships.

Nennig says she is “very grateful for the opportunity and trust that USM has given me in my new position as head coach of the Girls’ and Boys’ swim teams this upcoming season.  My goal is to build upon the successes that we achieved this past season and continue to develop an even stronger program in the years that lie ahead."

Johns summed up this appointment when he stated, “Bailey has a contagious and enthusiastic spirit. She is able to walk on the pool deck with a command presence and challenge our most accomplished swimmers. At the same time, she develops programs for our emerging swimmers. We are extremely fortunate that Bailey has accepted this promotion.”
