Wildcat Runners Begin Season Practices with Midnight Run
University School's cross country team began its season at 12:00 midnight Monday.
The University School cross country team wasted little time starting the 2012 season. The Wildcat harriers gathered at USM late Sunday night in anticipation of an inaugural midnight practice. After a spirited game of capture the flag, illuminated only by the moon, the stars and a few headlamps, the team came together for an official countdown. As the clock struck midnight, members of the team took their first steps of many as they embarked upon their first official workout of the season. Captains Emily Burton, Emma Kulick, Eric Hilgendorf and Megan Waples led the team on a moon-lit run over USM’s cross country course and established a harmonious balance of focus, intensity, and fun. The team emerged from the darkness, returning from their first workout invigorated, motivated and ready to explore the possibilities of a new season.
