Wildcats Lose in Rain-Shortened Tennis Match

The University School boys tennis team lost to Brookfield East Monday.

The University School boys’ tennis team played Brookfield East in a dual match Monday at USM.  Brookfield East won all four of the singles matches.  The doubles matches were suspended due to the rain that began during the matches.

The Wildcats continually seek the best opponents possible. They frequently take on top ranked Division 1 teams like Brookfield East, which is currently ranked third amongst Division 1 schools in the area. This tough competition during the regular season prepares the USM players for the Division 2 state tournament at the end of the season.

USM’s head coach Russ Trimble explained, “Brookfield East is definitely for real. They will be state contenders at D1 for quite a few years. I thought we played them much better than the scores indicated. What a great chance to improve our games against a powerhouse like that. It can only help us get better.”
