Wildcats Take Second in Golf Mini-Meet

The University School golf team finished second in a Midwest Classic Conference mini-meet Tuesday.

The University School golf team began the 2013 season by finishing second in a Midwest Classic Conference mini-meet held at held at the Scenic View Golf Course in Slinger Tuesday afternoon.

Tuesday’s meet was the first of five mini-meets and one major meet that the Midwest Classic Conference holds at various courses throughout the spring to determine conference standings. Amongst the eight conference teams participating in the season’s first mini-meet, the Wildcats had the second lowest total of shots for their five competing golfers.

USM head coach Phil Plautz seemed pleased by the meet’s results.  He said, “The weather was sunny, 50 degrees, and breezy. It was the first time for most of our kids on a course this spring - in our first meet of the season.”

Joey Karnes led the Wildcats by shooting a 42 on the nine holes used for the mini-meet.  Hayden Brown finished with a 44.  Milton Padway shot a 47; Cydni McMillian finished her round in 51 shots, and Zach Nelson finished with a 53.

The USM golf team competes in an invitational on Saturday, April 20th at Rolling Hills Golf Club in Oconomowoc beginning at 8:00 a.m.
