Wildcats Win Senior Night Volleyball Game

University School's girls volleyball team beats St. Joan Antida 3-0.

The girls’ volleyball team had little trouble defeating St. Joan Antida Thursday evening at USM. The score of the match was 3-0.

It was Senior Night at University School. USM's head coach Sue Baker honored the team's four seniors, Kelly Brethauer, Maddy Glaeser, Claire Reardon, and Cori Walters by simply stating, "The seniors played well.”

The Wildcats also emulated the confidence and skill of their senior leaders by playing confidently and skillfully as a team throughout the match. Baker implied that the seniors had done their jobs on the court by adding, “We were able to play everyone tonight."

The action in the match showed the teamwork that the USM seniors established. USM only trailed once all night, and that was when St Joan Antida had the serve at the start of the third game and senior Jordyn Mitchell gained three quick points.  But the Wildcats stopped the minor hemorrhage on the following serve by sophomore Amber Baker.  USM scored seven straight points and seven more on Reardon's serve and soon had a 17-5 lead. USM won the final game 25-12.

The Wildcats took an early 9-0 lead in the first game and soon won the game by a 25-6 score.

The individual leaders for USM were Baker who had 21 assists and 9 ace serves, Brethauer who had 8 kills, and Reardon who had 8 digs.

The Wildcats are now 7-3. They take part in the Brown Deer High School invitational tournament tomorrow beginning at 9:00 a.m. This tournament will be held at USM due to problems with Brown Deer’s floor. USM Booster passes to be honored.
