In Act 10 land, Wisconsin’s Judge Colas stands alone

MADISON — Dane County Circuit Court Judge Juan Colas is becoming the mule of Wisconsin’s judicial system.
While court after court has declared Wisconsin’s controversial collective bargaining reform law constitutional, Colas stubbornly stands by his original 2012 verdict declaring Act 10 invalid.

Increasingly, Colas is becoming a lone judicial voice in the wilderness, carrying the hopes and dreams of the left and Big Labor.
But unlike past wilderness dwellers whose ideas have been vindicated, Colas’ arguments haven’t proved valid in higher courts.
