More protesters, citations as singalong crackdown continues

MADISON – Round two of the Solidarity Singalong crackdown concluded Thursday with an additional 26 citations, mostly for not having a permit to gather at the Capitol.
And based on what the two sides are saying, Friday’s singalong will probably bring about round three.

LIKE THE OLD DAYS: Sen. Tim Cullen, center left, and Sen. Bob Jauch, witnessed Thursday’s noon-hour Solidarity Singalong, during which Capitol Police gave 26 citations, mostly to singers for gathering at the Capitol without a permit.
“We’re not going away, oh, Scotty,” the Solidarity gathering sang as Capitol police led members away.

“The Capitol Police are sworn officers who will continue to uphold the law, which has also been upheld by a federal judge,” Stephanie Marquis,spokeswoman for the state Department of Administration, said in a statement.
