After hastily posting notice on her U.S. Senate website early Tuesday that her offices would be closed due to the federal government shutdown, U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin seems to have eased back to a partial personal shutdown.
The Madison Democrat and her “bare bones” staff certainly have made themselves available to the media in recent days to talk about how Baldwin with be foregoing her Senate paycheck during these idle times.

Baldwin’s staff on Wednesday told WAOW-TV in Wausau that, indeed, the senator’s offices in Milwaukee, Madison and Washington D.C. are operating with a limited staff.
“Although our office is currently operating at a limited capacity, people can still call or email. Given the limited staff available, we are doing our best to answer phone calls,” Baldwin’s said in an email to Newsline 9. “Requests for assistance are being monitored for emergency needs and we will be sure to respond to any other inquiries as soon as the shutdown ends and the government is opened.”
But Baldwin appeared to close everything down Tuesday morning.
