The president of the Fox Point-Bayside School District plans to move to North Carolina on June 15.

Debbie Friberg will be stepping down from the Fox Point-Bayside School Board, as her family is moving to Charlotte, North Carolina on June 15. First elected in 2009, Friberg was appointed to the role of board president one month ago. She said she is excited to move to Charlotte, but her departure is not without mixed emotions. Superintendent Rachel Boechler said it has been a pleasure working with Friberg. "She has put in a lot of time and energy, specifically because it's been a very tumultuous time, but also because she led the search for our new district administrator," Boechler said. Board member Alice Lawton agreed that Friberg was instrumental in the hiring of Vance Dalzin. "Without your incredible diligence and hard work this …

Although I did not agree with the decisions made by Deb and the two other elder board members, I would like to wish Deb the very best in her move. Deb, if you read this, as I said last night, "my actions were not personal. They were what I felt I needed to do to bring volume to the issues at hand." Once again, I wish you the best and thank you for your service. I know it's a thankless elected …   more ›

How Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch Juggles Career with Motherhood

For Republican lieutenant governor, the biggest battle isn't in the state Capitol - it's dealing with the every day challenges that come with being a parent.

About this sponsorship: In honor of the 60th anniversary of Sir Edmund Hillary’s historic ascent of Mount Everest, Patch and Grape-Nuts are teaming up to highlight those who inspire people around them to climb their own mountains. Rebecca Kleefisch is the highest ranking woman in Wisconsin politics today, having been elected twice to the office of lieutenant governor. She is Gov. Scott Walker's point person business creation in the state and is a sought after speaker on conservative values.  She has also battled colon cancer during her first run for office and is an advocate for early screenings, like the one that made her fight against the disease easier to overcome. Keith....You don't "rile me up", I just consider the source. I agree with some of the others, the article on the Lt. Gov was a puff piece and yes, there are others who do their job with little thanks and never get mentioned. That's the way the press works. As far as Doyle's accomplishments, I'm sure some years from now he'll write a book and we'll all find out what he accomplished. The fact is we…   more ›

6 Characteristics Of A Truly Great Workplace

Freedom to be who you are and fulfilling work tend to earn companies on the top lists of best places to work, according to the Harvard Business Review.

The following story was provided by AOLJobs.com  By Claire Gordon What is the perfect place to work? An office where every employee gets an annual 10 percent raise? And nobody ever gets fired? And the CEO knows everyone's name? And there are free massages and volleyball courts and barrels of candy apples? None of the above. Rob Goffee of London Business School and Gareth Jones of IE Business School have spent three years asking hundreds of executives this exact question. Six qualities stood out, they found, which they revealed in this month's Harvard Business Review. And ultimately they seem to boil down to a single nugget: Make employees feel like they're not just mindless slaves of shareholder value.   1. Let You Do You The best company …

Yes, skinny, there is a need for immediate help. No doubt. People need food and shelter. Primary providers lost their lives. I am referring to the long term consequences. Those moving in with scams, those looking for the government hand out. I got a phone call from some telemarketer looking for donations for the cause. Would not give me a name. Non-Fiscal Items in State Budget Draw Flak

Did Gov. Scott Walker break a campaign promise when he vowed to keep pork out of the state budget?

Some campaign promises build in a bit of wiggle room. The one made by candidate for governor Scott Walker to “Strip policy and pork projects from the state budget” did not. This unequivocal pledge, posted on Walker’s campaign website, committed the candidate to eschewing both parties’ longstanding practice of using the budget to make policy changes and reward special interests. It noted that the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau had identified dozens of non-fiscal items in the governor’s budget repair bills and first biennial budget. Walker’s latest executive budget, for 2013-15, included what the Fiscal …
