Text 22828 to Receive the Buzz and Talk

Bayside in the top 10 percent for The Buzz and The Tuesday Talk.

Bayside was recently recognized by Constant Contact for communicating and engaging with residents though the Bayside Buzz and Tuesday Talk.  In fact, we were named a 2012 All Star! This status is an annual designation that only 10 percent of Constant Contact users achieve.  The standards for becoming an All Star in 2012 were tougher than ever, the Village is proud to accomplished this goal.  Thanks for staying in touch!

Barth, Walny Maintain Their Seats on the Bayside Village Board

The two incumbents survived a four-way race for village trustee in Tuesday's election.

Bayside voters chose Mike Barth and Eido Walny to continue to represent them on the Village Board for the next three years. Incumbents Barth and Walny survived a four-way challenge from former Nicolet School Board member Kelly Herda and political newcomer Tom Noble in Tuesday's spring election. When reached by phone Tuesday night, Barth said he appreciates the continued support from village residents. “I’m just glad to see the support for what we’ve accomplished as a board,” Barth said. “I’m glad to see that’s recognized, and I look forward to continue to work toward improving Bayside.” Barth, 55, was first elected to a partial term in 2003 and has been re-elected in 2004, 2007 and 2010. Barth has lived in the village for 18 years and is a…

I would like to congratulate Mr. Barth and Mr Walny on a well deserved victory. I would also like to congratulate my fellow candidate Ms. Herda. Thank you to my family, friends and all the people who supported me. I look forward to serving our Village by possibly joining a committee or volunteering. Thanks again!   more ›

Be Prepared With The Tornado App

The American Red Cross has an app that puts everything you need to know about preparing for a tornado right at your fingertips, and also sounds an alarm when a tornado warning is issued for your location, even when the app is closed.

Get your family and home ready for tornado season with the official Tornado App from the American Red Cross. The app puts everything you need to know about preparing for a tornado right at your fingertips, and also sounds an alarm when a tornado warning is issued for your location, even when the app is closed. The Village tests its siren every Saturday at noon, and Milwaukee County tests every second Wednesday of the month.  However, as tornado season approaches, please be aware that sirens will not be tested if there is a severe weather warning in the area as not to confuse residents.

DNR Will Use Wasps to Combat Emerald Ash Borer

Bayside, like other North Shore communities, has a comprehensive emerald ash borer management plan.

The Village of Bayside, in conjunction with neighboring North Shore communities and the Schlitz Audbon Nature Center has a comprehensive emerald ash borer management plan. As you may know, Milwaukee County is under quarantine due to the continued presence of the emerald ash borer (EAB) invasive species. While the disease has not been confirmed in Bayside, it has been detected in Brown Deer, Cudahy, Franklin, Greendale, Greenfield, Milwaukee, and Oak Creek. To combat EAB, the state DNR plans to experiment with using another invasive species. Wisconsin will soon be the 10th state to release into the wild different species' of sting-less wasps, that are natural predators of EAB in their native China.  The DNR will first attempt this method in…

2012 State of the Village of Bayside

Bayside Village Manager Andy Pederson presents some highlights from the past year.

Another year of great challenge has come and gone. As we reflect on this past year in the 2012 State of the Village, our community and organization has experienced challenge, excitement, innovation, and success. The Village continues to be guided by five strategic initiatives, Fiscal Integrity, Civic Commitment, Service Excellence, Citizen Engagement, and Sustainability. The Village has taken the most idealistic thoughts and shaped them into reality. 2012 marked a year of great success.  Even with the many accomplishments, we all have come to realize that the status quo no longer works.  Commitment to our core values helps maintain a balance between service and responsiveness to our community and to the fiscal challenges that are present …

UPDATED: Bayside Trustee Candidate Kelly Herda Has Paid Delinquent Taxes

The Bayside Village Board candidate has been delinquent on her property taxes for seven years, but the bills and penalties were eventually paid in full.

This story was updated at 9:55 p.m. to include a statement from Herda. Bayside Village Board candidate Kelly Herda's personal financial tax records have come under scrutiny, due to articles and comments in the opinion section of local publications. A look through online tax records confirms Herda has been delinquent on her property tax payments for seven of the 13 years she has lived in Bayside. Despite the late payments, Herda has paid all of her property taxes, interests and penalties in full every year. This year, Herda was a month late and $87 short on her first installment, but as of Monday, she has paid the full amount due, including $104.83 in interest and penalties. Herda has also incurred interests and penalties as a result of …

To me this is just a way to side track the issues that Mrs. Herda is trying to bring to our communities attention. It is an outrage that this has taken forefront over the actual good Mrs. Herda has done for our school boards and communities. I believe she will be a great change to our board, a well needed change in my opinion, and she has my vote this Tuesday!   more ›

157 Homes to be Assessed for Municipal Water Hook-Ups

Bayside's village government is acting as a financial conduit for four private water projects expected to occur this summer.

Bayside is allowing 157 property owners to switch from well water to city water, and providing financing for the project—expected to cost each residential property owner between $10,000 and $12,000. Currently, about 70 percent of Bayside residents have well water, either private or shared systems. For several years, Northway Water Co-op No. 1 Trustee Howard Feiges has been fighting for residents in portions of the village to get municipal water. Other water trusts—the 29-home Vista Del Mar Water Trust, eight-home Santa Monica Water Trust and 38-home Northway Water Co-op No. 2—later joined, doubling the scope of the potential project. On Thursday, the Village Board approved financing for all four water projects. Each trust volunteered to …
