Fox Point police arrested a man May 1 for retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly stole from Best Buy, and police discovered several items used to consume heroin.
Fox Point police fielded some unlikely help May 1 as they pursued a man on foot, suspected of stealing from Best Buy. According to a police report, Fox Point police responded to a report of a retail theft in progress at about 12:58 p.m. at the electronics chain in the River Point Shopping Center, 8755 N. Port Washington Rd. The suspect left on foot before police arrived, however police spotted him walking westbound on West Brown Deer Road after receiving a suspect description. When an officer asked the man to stop, he fled west toward Indian Hill School. Two retail thefts were reported at Best Buy last week, according to Fox Point police records. A man who attempted to steal video games from Best Buy –but then changed his mind – was cited for attempted retail theft last week. Best Buy security camera footage shows a male in his 20s concealing PlayStation 3 video games in his pockets at 12:05 p.m. on April 25. He later put some of the video games down, and was found playing a video game at one of the display consoles when officers arrived. Officers patted the man down and found three large sheets of aluminum foil in his pant pockets, apparently in an attempt to throw off the security alarms. Fox Point Police caught up to suspected shoplifters on I-43 and found inventory from Forever 21 and Sally Beautiful Supply.
A simple retail theft resulted in a hairy situation when Fox Point cops eventually caught up to the suspected shoplifters on I-43. Police received a report of shoplifting at Sally Beauty Supply at RiverPoint shopping center at 3:46 p.m. on March 7. An employee reported three women and a man left the store without paying for scissors and hair shears. Based on a vehicle description, Fox Point police were able to catch up to the southbound vehicle on I-43 near the Hampton Avenue exit. On the floor of the passenger seat, police found two packages of human hair, an acrylic nail kit and a manicure set. Police say a 16-year-old girl lifted a microphone and recording interface — valued at $300 — from the Riverpoint Shopping Center store on Feb. 27.
A 16-year-old girl was arrested Feb. 27 after police say she stole a microphone and recording equipment — claiming she needed the items because she is a rapper. According to the police report, at 4:44 p.m. an officer was dispatched to a report of a retail theft in progress at Best Buy in the Riverpoint Shopping Center, 8755 N. Port Washington Rd. Upon arriving, the officer observed three girls walking out of the store that fit a description of those involved in the incident. The officer told the three he needed to speak with them inside the store. The manager of Best Buy caught a thief unwrapping a laptop computer in the bathroom, but the man turned over the computer and left the store before police could arrive.
Two laptops were stolen last week in Fox Point – one from Best Buy and one from the YMCA Dunwood Child Care Center. A man in his early 20s is suspected of stealing a laptop computer from Best Buy around 3:25 p.m. Jan. 11. Store managers noticed the man was acting suspicious, so they watched him on surveillance camera as he moved the laptop computer box to the car audio section, walked around the store for a while, then returned to the car audio section to hide the laptop box under his coat. The man then walked into the bathroom. A store manager walked into the bathroom and heard something being unraveled. A woman tried to sneak a laptop out of Best Buy, police say, but her Rewards Zone card gave away her identity.
The hunt is on for Fox Point police as they investigate a theft at Best Buy and a big lead from a Rewards Zone card. When Fox Point police arrived on Dec. 19, a loss prevention employee told officers just minutes earlier a woman had concealed a laptop under her winter coat, but turned the computer over to a Best Buy employee when she was confronted in the store. Surveillance footage showed the woman purchase a printer at the registers in the computer department of the store. She picked up a laptop off the shelf and headed into an aisle in the movie section, putting the printer on the ground, the police report said. A 32-year-old Milwaukee woman is accused of stealing $800 in electronics from Best Buy in Fox Point. Antee Ramona Consuela Johnson was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of felony retail theft. If convicted, she faces up to 1½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On Wednesday, Fox Point police officers were called to the store after employees saw Johnson get out of an idling car in the parking lot and enter the store, then grab some items from off the shelves and walk around. This Mequon man thought he could stuff an 8-inch box in his pants and walk out with a set of $300 headphones. Little did he know loss prevention was watching him closely from the appliance aisle and Brown Deer police would be on the lookout for him.
A 22-year-old Mequon man thought he could sneak out of Best Buy with some video games jammed into his pants.
