USM stays ahead in second quarter, but falls victim to East Troy in second half.

In the Regional semi-final of the WIAA Division 3 Sectional 4 state tournament playoffs, the number 7 seed, University School of Milwaukee, lost to the number 2 seed, East Troy 75-49 Friday night at East Troy. Nicolet Regroups and Beats Port Washington

The boys basketball team didn't do it pretty, but they did it, beating Port 50-41 on Thursday. The Knights are off to Homestead on Friday night.

In a game that went down to the final 40 seconds, Nicolet beat host Port Washington 50-41 on Thursday in a North Shore Conference boys basketball game. The Knights (12-6, 7-3 NSC) lost to the Pirates (7-10, 4-6) in December 52-49, and Thursday's game was just as tight. Nicolet led 20-18 at halftime and remained on top until Sawyer Mosely hit a 3-pointer with 52 seconds left in the third quarter to put the Pirates on top 30-27. The fourth quarter was back and forth until Nicolet's Raheem Lemons scored a basket, was fouled and made the free throw to put the Knights back on top 41-39. Port Washington senior Eric Graff hit a clutch 12-footer to bring his team within 44-41 with just 40 seconds left in the game. But it was all Nicolet after that…

Coaches will tell you they’ll take a win any way they can get it, and that’s exactly what the Nicolet boys basketball team did Saturday in the NY2LA Sports Extravaganza in Glendale. Vincent scored 20 points off Nicolet turnovers, and 20 points off missed shots. “We could never find a rhythm,” Hepp said. The win gave Nicolet a 9-4 record, while Milwaukee Vincent fell to 2-7. “I told the guys in the locker room this wasn’t an impressive victory,” Hepp said. “We’ve got to close gaps on our defense. We knew the outside shot wasn’t their forte, so …
