Runaway Teens Try to Take Stolen Car, Playboy Blankie to Canada

Two teens stole a car in Illinois and were busted in Bayside when they got in a fender bender, foiling their plot to run away to Canada for what they thought was the recently legalized marijuana and lower drinking age.

Bayside police foiled the plans of two teenage boys after they stole a car and tried to run away to Canada for they thought was recently legalized marijuana, and lower drinking age there. Among the items they brought along were a Google map to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and a Playboy blanket. Bayside police were patrolling the Brown Deer and Port Washington roads intersection just before 11 a.m. on Dec. 23 when they witnessed a car accident, according to their report. A car with Illinois plates making a right-hand turn on red didn’t yield to oncoming traffic and sideswiped another driver, alerting police with the loud crunching sound as the cars collided, the report said. Fox Point Takes International Tennis Spotlight

Town Club hosting 37th annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic Friday through Sunday featuring players from 19 countries. Tournament founder and Fox Point resident Chas Mulcahy said he just can't imagine his life without the MTC.

Fox Point jumped into the international spotlight Friday when the Town Club opened its doors for the 37th annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic. The round-robin tournament features both men and women from seven different universities including Marquette University, UW-Wisconsin Madison, Ball State, DePaul, Detroit Mercy, Western Michigan and Xavier and will continue through Sunday. That tradition of gender equality goes back to the tournaments very beginning founder and Fox Point resident, Chas Mulcahy said. "We’re very proud and very unique in our history that men and women were treated equally for the last 37 years," Mulcahy said. $5,500 in Fraudulent Checks Cashed Against Fox Point Man's Account

Man called from Canada to say he had the guy's checkbook.

A 59-year-old Fox Point man had $5,500 in fraudulent checks cashed against his account after he lost his checkbook while traveling. According to the report: On Jan. 24, he had boarded a flight from Milwaukee to Little Rock, AK, and had his checkbook in his backpack. The following day, he received a call from the airline saying someone had found his checkbook and was soliciting a reward. The airline connected him with the unknown man via telephone who claimed he had the checkbook. The caller said he was in Montreal, Canada, and that he wanted to do the right thing. The man asked the caller to destroy the checks. For security purposes, he then called his bank as well and notified them of the incident. However, on Thursday he checked his bank…
