Nicolet Students Could Earn Cash for Tipping off Cops

Proposed program would pay students $50 for leads on drugs, weapons, vandalism.

Want to make  a quick $50? Nicolet High School students may get a chance to pick up some extra cash as part of a proposed program aimed at keeping drugs and weapons out of the school. The program, called Quick 50, would offer up to $50 to students who submit tips to police about drugs, alcohol, weapons or major criminal damage to property that lead to an arrest. Nicolet High School liaison officer Kelly DeJonge, of the Glendale Police Department, said the program isn't just geared toward major drug or weapons busts. "To me, one weapon is a big issue, or any drug is a big issue," she said. "This school is my city, and I don't want that in my city."  In 1993, the Greater Beloit Area Crime Stoppers funded a Quick 50 program in schools. …

Just one more thing. If you really want to curb the drug use/possession at Nicolet there are much better ways to do it. Mainly, get a drug sniffing dog. If you still have metal detector days, have the dog out in the open for all to see.
