The Milwaukee-area financial sector CEO launched a recall effort against board members and has advocated against middle school schedule changes.
The parent who led a recall effort against three Fox Point-Bayside School Board members is now seeking an open seat on the board. Milwaukee-area financial sector CEO David Braeger announced Wednesday that he is seeking the board's appointment to the seat that will soon be left empty by School Board President Debbie Friberg. Braeger, a parent of two children, filed paperwork May 8 to launch recall efforts against Friberg, Vice President Tim Melchert and member Alice Lawton. He later dropped the recall effort because he did not want to damage the school district's reputation. Braeger said he believes he is well-suited for the position because he is willing to take risks, ask hard questions, hold regular meetings with residents and teachers …

Parent David Braeger is withdrawing his effort to recall three School Board members after he says outside groups were using the district as a "poster child," and a prominent teacher expressed confidence in the board.
Parent David Braeger has scraped his effort to recall three members of the Fox Point-Bayside School Board, saying that his attemp was starting to hurt the image of the district. “When I put in for the recall, I started to receive a lot of attention from outside special-interest groups in Madison that focus on the protection of arts in our schools," Braeger said in a statement Monday. "Although I am in total agreement with their cause, I can’t let these highly organized groups use our community and school as the 'poster child' of weakened curriculum and schedule." Local businessman offers $3,000 to Bayside Middle School to help students learn conflict resolution skills.
Fox Point resident Dave Braeger has come to understand that bullying—like many things—knows no boundaries, and he’s hoping to help change that dynamic. Braeger, president of Private Equity Ventures, is giving a $3,000 grant to Bayside Middle School so next year's seventh-grade students can attend conflict resolution classes at the Peace Learning Center in Milwaukee. The students will attend the program beginning next fall. Rachel Boechler, superintendent of the Fox Point-Bayside School District, said they have always had an anti-bullying program, but when they can they have brought in other speakers or programs. “We do believe it’s important, especially at the middle school level,” Boechler said. “Kids are hard on each other, not even …

That is my view of my run for school board. The residents, teachers and children need someone with the passion I have.   more ›
