Friberg Retains Seat on Fox Point-Bayside School Board

A challenger for the Nicolet School Board, Melody Halstrom, garnered a good percentage of votes in Fox Point and Bayside even though she dropped out of the race in January.

In the only official contested election on Tuesday in Fox Point and Bayside, the incumbent won out. Debbie Friberg, incumbent for Fox Point-Bayside School Board, retained her seat against challenger, Eilene Stevens. Here's the breakdown: Fox Point-Bayside School Board And while Melody Halstrom, challenger for one of the two available Nicolet School Board seats, unofficially dropped out in January she still garnered quite a few votes in both Fox Point and Bayisde. Fox Point-Bayside Election Preview: Voter ID, Where To Vote, Candidate Info

City, county and national races make for a full ballot on Tuesday; be informed before you head out and cast your ballot.

Unless you've been abroad (for example, interplanetary travel), you know that it will be time to head to the polls on Tuesday. We've listed information about the candidates in all contested races on our Election Central page. Although there are three school board elections on the ballot, only one is a contested race. Incumbent Debbie Friberg and challenger Eilene Stevens will vie for the open Fox Point-Bayside School Board seat.  The candidates had presented their views during a forum on Wednesday. The two candidates running in Tuesday's election for the Fox Point-Bayside School Board will be sharing their views in candidates forum set for 7 p.m Wednesday. Patch will be blogging live throughout the event.

Fox Point-Bayside School Board Candidate Forum Wednesday

Get to know incumbent Debbie Friberg and challenger Eilene Stevens at a PTO-sponsored forum.

Two candidates are vying for one seat on the Fox Point-Bayside School Board and to help get a better understanding of both points of view, the PTO is sponsoring a candidate forum, set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Stormonth Elemntary School in the cafeteria. Find complete candidate profiles for both incumbent Debbie Friberg and challenger Eilene Stevens, links to news stories and more on our April 2012 Elections page. Candidates will be asked a standard set of questions that they received in advance. Following the question and answer session, audience members will also have an opportunity to ask the candidates questions. Refreshments will be provided by the Fox Point-Bayside PTO.

School Board Backs Superintendent Despite Complaints from Parents, Teachers

Fox Point-Bayside District Administrator Rachel Boechler gets new two-year contract even though some parents call for her resignation after controversy in Wauwatosa.

After listening to passionate comments from residents for more than an hour and then deliberating another hour, the Fox Point-Bayside School Board decided Monday night to retain Rachel Boechler as district administrator. The vote to extend Boechler's contract for two more years came after parents called on her to resign following a newspaper article that said she failed to report an affair between a student and teacher when she was a counselor in Wauwatosa in the early 1990s. “In this age of Penn State, the Catholic church, I just cannot imagine in Fox Point-Bayside School we have a leader of the entire school that did not protect a minor when that individual needed to be protected,” Tad Walter, a father of two students in the district …

Few New Faces On Local Ballots in April Elections

Fox Point-Bayside and Nicolet School Districts only elections to see challengers.

Tuesday day was the final day to file paperwork to get on the April 3 ballot. Both Fox Point and Bayside have two trustee positions up for grabs without any challengers; in the school board races, Fox Point-Bayside and Nicolet are the only districts with a challenger so far. Maple Dale-Indian Hill has a deadline of 5 p.m. Friday for those interested to file for candidacy. Here's a look at how things stack up: Nicolet School Board The Nicolet School Board has two positions up for grabs. Potential candidates can now start circulating nomination papers to run for the spring election.

Want to be one of the five votes on the Nicolet School Board? Inspired to work in public service (and get paid)? Thursday marked the first day that potential candidates for Nicolet and other local offices can start circulating nomination papers for the spring election. Papers are due Jan. 3 to get on the ballot. The general election is April 3, but if a primary is needed, it will be held on Feb. 21. Incumbents who choose not to run must announce that decision by filing a declaration of non-candidacy by Dec. 27.
