Stormonth Kids Cast Their 'Sweet' Ballot Tuesday

Second-, third- and fourth-graders learned about the process of voting from registration to official voting booths, to their official "I Voted" sticker.

Casting a ballot wasn't just for adults on Tuesday.  Second-, third- and fourth-graders at Stormonth Elementary learned about the voting process Tuesday by voting for their favorite candy — Skittles, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups or a write-in candy. From official registration to getting that ballot, write-in candidates and the well-earned "I Voted" sticker, it was Election Central at Stormonth. "(Teachers have) been teaching (students) more about the process of voting," Principal Dan Westfahl said. "They got through the registration process, they go through the importance of showing fairness. You'll notice we have an equal number of Skittles posters as we do Peanut Butter Cup posters and it has been teaching them more about the process …

Barrett Takes Fox Point, Bayside By a Landslide

In Fox Point and Bayside, Barrett won by an even higher percentage than in the rest of Milwaukee County.

While Tom Barrett outpolled Kathleen Falk by about a 3-to-1 margin countywide in Tuesday's recall primary, he took Fox Point and Bayside by a landslide of nearly 4-to-1 against his leading Democratic opponent.  A grand total of 3,646 ballots were cast in both villages and while neither had any major machine problems as in some other elections, there was an issue with voters thinking they could, essentially, vote for everyone.  With a solid turnout of 43 percent, and a total of 1,442 ballots cast, Bayside voters handily chose Barrett over the four other candidates and had only one write-in.  The big issues with voters, however, was the misconception that they could vote for anybody and everybody.  "They're on the ballot one after another so…

Yep, the Redux was just longer and uglier than the original. And the $18,000,000 ticket price was way out of line.   more ›

I think it is childish to make a claim like this as for bribery. How about the 40 and 50 thousand dollar plates the DemonicRATs get? Sandwiches was good Samaritan. They would have given Obama one, had he had guts enough to show up.   more ›

TOTAL RECALL: State Senate Showdown

Fox Point, Bayside Fully Equipped for Election Day

Candidates say it's all about turnout, and both village clerks say they're ready to go.

After weeks of going door-to-door, volunteers tirelessly making phone calls day after day, and both candidates shaking hands and smiling for interviews, Election Day has arrived. Beginning 7 a.m. Tuesday, voters will hit the polls to choose between incumbent Sen. Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) and her challenger, Rep. Sandy Pasch (D-Whitefish Bay). For weeks, both have been filling Facebook with 'thanks you's' and photos, and tweeting about events information and election details in an effort to find the last few votes. While each has drastically different viewpoints on government, they both agree on one thing, it's all about turnout for this election, and both Fox Point and Bayside village clerks agree, it's going to be one busy day …

TOTAL RECALL: State Senate Showdown

Recall Tracker: 8th District Now a Tossup and More Findings from Politifact

A recap of news and events surrounding the Alberta Darling and Sandy Pasch race for Wisconsin's 8th Senate District, and other recall races in the state.

8th District Race Now Called a 'Tossup' After handicapping the 8th Senate District race as "leaning" toward Republican Alberta Darling for most of the campaign, WisPolitics.com is now declaring the race a "tossup."The political website notes that Darling won by only 1,000 votes in 2008 and that the Democrats are making this race, and the 14th Senate District, a high priority. The last time the site handicapped the races, on July 15, it said Darling appeared to have the advantage over Pasch. On the Campaign Trail: Lieutenant Governor Joins Darling for Final Push On Saturday, with less than 72 hours remaining before the pivotal election, state Sen. Alberta Darling’s campaign offices were a hive of activity as volunteers staged a final push …
