Fox Point and Bayside have seen a couple of significant changes on the business landscape in 2012, though the biggest is perhaps to come. In mid-December, the “red bag” Sendik’s family announced it was purchasing the Bayside Sendik’s and the entire accompanying building, with eyes on renovation and expansion in 2013. Just across the Brown Deer Road/Port Washington Road intersection, another grocery store already staked out its turf. Fresh Market opened in April, the 21,000-square-foot store filling the vacancy left by Borders bookstore in the River Point Shopping Center. Fresh Market grocery store and sporting goods store would occupy old Borders building.
A consignment shop, day care center, sporting goods store and a grocery store all will soon call Fox Point home. The Fox Point Plan Commission and Building Board held a joint meeting Tuesday night to approve the relocation of two businesses to the village as well as plans for four new business. One new business that's making its way to Fox Point is the Fresh Market grocery store, which has been a hot topic of discussion since Borders Bookstore closed in April. Tom Bowman, a representative for Fresh Market, told village officials that this store will be smaller than the average store by 3,000 to 4,000 square feet, and will only take over the upper portion of the old bookstore. This new grocery store will bring 45 full-time, and 45 part-time…
