Knights Update

Girls Basketball Lose First Conference Game in Four Years

Their season 16 game unbeaten streak ended in a 65-57 loss to the Tigers.

The Nicolet High School girls basketball team lost their first game of the season on Tuesday at home vs. Milwaukee Riverside, then lost their first conference game in four years on Friday at Grafton. Their season 16 game unbeaten streak ended in a 65-57 loss to the Tigers despite 21 points from Senior Brittney Fair. Briana Gray (12) and Courtney Smith (11) helped keep Nicolet in the game but Riverside was in control from the start.   The the girls tried to regroup as they traveled to Grafton but fell to the Blackhawks 51-46.  Fair had 21, Smith had nine and Becca Olin had eight but it wasn't enough to prevent the end of their 44 game North Shore Conference win streak. The girls are still in first place (10-1) and still control their own …

Knights Update: Girls Still Unbeaten; Swimmers, Wrestlers Eye Tournament

Here is this week's update on Nicolet High School athletics from Athletic Director Kirk Krychowiak: The girls basketball team stayed unbeated (16-0) by winning a pair of games last week and has moved to the No. 1 spot in the area and AP rankings. On Tuesday, the girls defeated Milwaukee Lutheran on the road 54-36 with Briana Gray leading the way with 21 points Brittney Fair scored 18 and five other players scored as well: Courtney Smith, Becca Olin, Brooke Silverberg, Jasmine Stacy and Lanoira Duhart. On Friday, the girls cruised past Port Washington 72-37. Fair led with 26 points. Gray and Smith scored 15 each. Tiffany Pigg and Chelsea McDowell also got in on the scoring action. Girls Basketball Team Still Undefeated

Team hands conference rival Whitefish Bay its first defeat.

The girls basketball team remained undefeated after beating previously unbeaten Whitefish Bay at home last Friday 40-34.  The No. 1-ranked Knights are now 13-0 (7-0). Against the Blue Dukes, senior Brittney Fair scored a team-high 22 points while fellow senior Courtney Smith poured in 10.   Briana Gray, Sara Travia and Lanoira Duhart rounded out the rest of the scoring. This week, the Lady Knights will travel to Homestead on Friday for a conference showdown with the Highlanders.  The frosh team will host Arrowhead at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night in the varsity gym. The boys basketball team lost on the road last Friday at Whitefish Bay.  The short-handed Knights played tough for awhile but eventually fell 72-59.  Eugene Bonner again led the …

The Nicolet High School boys basketball team lost at home Friday to the second ranked team in the State, the Germantown Warhawks. The boys played hard with Eugene Bonner scoring 22 points and Tyler Miller dropping in 12. This week, the boys will play at Whitefish Bay on Friday. The girls basketball team remain undefeated after beating Germantown on the road Friday 68-54, with 23 points from Junior Briana Gray and 18 from Senior Brittney Fair. Senior Courtney Smith added 12. The girls are now ranked No. 2 in the area behind Milwaukee Vincent but they are ranked No. 1 in the State AP poll, just ahead of Vincent. Nicolet Girls Basketball Nearly Lose Perfect Record to Waukesha South

With 1:30 left in the game, the Knights racked up an extra 10 points for the win.

The Nicolet High School boys basketball team lost a close home game Friday against Cedarburg. The Bulldogs pulled out a 42-38 win despite 12 points from Eugene Bonner and 10 from Corey Smith. A late three-pointer from Nolan Wagner, who finished with six points and a basket by Greg Pigg (eight points) kept the Knights in the game late but Cedarburg eventually held on for the win. This week the boys will play just once. They will host the second ranked team in the state, the Germantown Warhawks, on Friday. The girls basketball team remained undefeated with a pair of wins last week but the unbeaten streak come close to ending last Tuesday after the Lady Knights trailed 37-29 at home vs. Waukesha South with just 1:30 left in the game. Lady Knights Remain Undefeated

Boys basketball team drops a pair of games over holiday break.

The Nicolet High School boys basketball team dropped a pair of games over the break in the Brookfield Central Tournament. Gregg Pigg led the team with 13 points in the loss against Central. Alex Dranzik dropped in 10. In a close five-point loss to Hartford, Corey Smith and Eugene Bonner led the Knights with 14 and 13 points respectively. This week, the Boys host Cedarburg on Friday. The girls basketball team continues to be perfect after capturing the  Championship in Franklin's Christine Rathke Memorial Tournament over the Holidays. In a three-day span, the Lady Knights beat Franklin, Pius and the Oshkosh Lourdes to take home the trophy and move up to No. 2 in the rankings. Against Franklin, Briana Gray scored 23 points in the 52-44 win. …

Girls Basketball Team Earns 35th Consecutive Win

Boys basketball drops two games, leaving the Knights with a 2-2 record.

The Nicolet High School boys basketball team is now 2-2 after dropping a pair of games last weekend at Homestead 62-56 and in the NY2LA Tournament vs. West Allis Central on Saturday at Homestead High School 69-52. In the Homestead game, Eugene Bonner put up 24 points and Greg Pigg chipped in 13. Against Central, Tyler Miller scored 20 and Corey Smith added 11. The Boys will play at Milwaukee Lutheran on Tuesday and will host Port Washington on Friday (Frosh and JV at 5:45 p.m. and Varsity at 7:30 p.m). Nicolet Boys Basketbal Kicks Off With Home Opener Tuesday Night

Girls basketball begins road to holding Division 1 Title Friday.

The Nicolet High School boys basketball team begins its season with a home  contest against West Bend West Tuesday night. The frosh and JV tip off will begin  at 5:45 p.m. and the varsity will play at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, all three teams will suit up again as they travel to Wauwatosa West with the frosh beginning at 1 p.m., JV at 2:30 p.m. and varsity at 4 p.m. The girls basketball team will begin its defense of their Division 1 State Championship at home on Friday vs. Milwaukee King. The frosh and JV will begin at 5:45 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m. The boys swim and dive team will kickoff its season Tuesday night at Homestead High School in a conference dual meet at 6 p.m., then will host their annual Knights Sprint Invitational on …

Boys Volleyball Snags Several Post-Season Honors

Girls hockey co-op heading to Mosinee on Black Friday.

The Nicolet/University School girls hockey co-op team "The Wildcats" will play their next game against the Bay Area Ice Bears at 1 p.m. on Friday in a Thanksgiving tournament in Mosinee. The swim team will be hosting their "Alumni Swim Meet" on Friday. Please see Coach Davis for more information. The boys volleyball team received several post-season honors. Senior Dan Mulcahy received 1st Team All-Conference, Conference Player of the Year and Honorable Mention All-State. Chris Sorenson earned 1st Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-State. Nicolet Swimmer and Diver Heading to State

200 medley relay team sets new school record.

The girls swim team season this year was very successful. At Saturday's WIAA Sectional meet at Cedarburg High School, the 200 medley relay relay team of Grace Wilkie, Sophia Jokumsen, Sarah Zelazoski, and Christa Rumbaugh set a new school records, however it wasn't fast enough to qualify for the state meet. Qualifying for state, however, were Kim Charles in diving and Christa Rumbaugh who bettered her top five board times in the 50 and 100 freestyle events.    The dance team competed in their first dance competition this past weekend at the annual MSOE Raider Invitational, placing second overall in the high school pom division.
